PATRICK STRUGGLES WITH SET-UP, BUT STILL NETS VALUABLE POINTS IN VALENCIA!

PATRICK STRUGGLES WITH SET-UP, BUT STILL NETS VALUABLE POINTS IN VALENCIA!VALENCIA, JUNE 27 2010 – Patrick Huisman (NED) has finished the fifth round of the 2010 Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup in seventh position. At the 5.419 kilometer long Valencia Street Circuit, the Konrad Motorsport driver experienced car handling problems all weekend, as understeer and tyre degradation affected the outcome of this weekend’s results. The former four-time champion welcomes the nine points that come with finishing in seventh position though.

On from Friday’s free practice session, Huisman experienced difficulties in finding a good set-up for his Tudor branded Porsche 911 GT3 car at the street circuit which surrounds the America’s Cup marina. Relying on his raw speed and experience, the Dutch ace still managed to set the seventh fastest time in Saturday’s qualifying session however.

In Sunday’s showdown, Huisman enjoyed a good start which briefly brought him sixth position. In order not to ruin his chances on a good finishing result, Huisman didn’t make life too difficult for the hard charging Jaap van Lagen and settled for seventh position at the end of the opening lap. In the remainder of the 14-lap race, Huisman comfortably retained the seventh position after eventually getting close to overtaking one or two competitors in the final stages of the 30 minute race. Huisman now holds the seventh position in the current championship standings with a total of 40 points.

PATRICK HUISMAN: “Even though finishing in seventh position isn’t that special, I feel I maximized my opportunities this weekend. Throughout all sessions and today’s race we experienced a lot of understeer, which we couldn’t get rid of. Next to this, my lap times are pretty much influenced by my length and bodyweight here at this circuit. The points that come with P7 are very welcome therefore. I hope the team can address and fix the problem before our next race meeting in a fortnight, as I would like to follow up our strong performances in Barcelona and Monaco with another good result at Silverstone.”
